Stories/Letters

Saturday August 24, 2019

When I was in prison New Beginnings was a place where I could see there was hope and understanding of our plight. No matter the crime there was never any judgment, just love, care and concern. It was a place to experience the freedom to express concerns about our lives within the walls and our futures outside.

My first meeting upon my release from prison I walked into New Beginnings Next Step feeling like a child separated from his parents in a department store, lost and alone. After the first meeting I felt like a loved, long lost family member finally returning home. The feeling of love care and concern has not waned throughout my ups and downs. That type of support is needed and appreciated when trying to learn how to live again.
